High Achieving Program

Our High Achieving Students program at 246天天好彩 places importance on identifying, nurturing, challenging and recognising every child鈥檚 potential and skills. Both students and parents feel valued, empowered and supported in setting and attaining their school as well as life goals.


The High Achieving Students Program is a teaching and learning initiative introduced and led by Mrs Gabriela Davies (Secondary School Teaching and Learning Coordinator and Head of the English Department.) Every week, by appointment, Mrs Davies and nominated teachers work with high-achieving students who wish to take on new challenges and become involved in various extra as well as co-curricular projects and activities. Students are guided in choosing an area of interest, and supported through the application process, whether that be applying for various state and national competitions or for university programs and scholarships. Participants have won scholarships to various universities, have either taken part in grand finals or won state and national competitions, including the Premier Anzac鈥檚 Prize, have completed the world-renowned Summer STEM Institute (SSI) Bootcamp Program, and received many more such rewards and recognitions.

Our Success Stories

Our 2022 School Captain, Eilidh Meighan, was recognised by QCCA with a Subject Achievement Commendation for her perfect 100% score in Year 12 General English. Her result puts her in the top 1% of the state.


Two 2021 graduates – Tapiwanashe Masvaure and聽 Laura Galina 鈥 were recognised by QCAA who awarded them a Subject Achievement Commendation Certificate and a letter of recognition for achieving 100% in all four Year 12 General English assessments.聽 Taelon Steele also achieved a Subject Achievement Commendation for Film, TV and New Media putting him in the top 1% of the state.

 


Tapiwanashe Masvaure and Harrison Mega made their way through the 2021 Evatt Trophy Competition preliminaries, semi-finals, and Grand/State Final stage, which is an amazing achievement.聽 the Evatt Trophy Competition engages high school students across Australia in world affairs and issues through debating mock Security Council resolutions from the position of an assigned country.


Year 11 student, Stephen Mondia, was accepted to and successfully completed the world-renowned Summer STEM Institute (SSI) Bootcamp Program, 2021 session. The program had received over 1,250 applications from all over the world, but, Stephen鈥檚 academic record, extracurricular activities, and personal statements stood out amongst a highly competitive applicant pool.


Year 11 NCC student, Katherine Dodds, won the Pine Rivers RSL Sub-branch Essay Competition with her speech entitled, The Effects of War on Women of the Home Front, and entered the Anzac Premier鈥檚 Prize 2017.


Brody Castle and Summer Davidson, two of the high achieving students attending 246天天好彩, have recently been awarded Highly Commended for the Non-Fiction Prose section of the IEUA-QNT, the English Teachers Association of Queensland, and the James Cook University Literary Competition. Brody also entered and was successful in the first round of interviews for attending the National Youth Science Forum.
